Questions?
Here are some common questions I get about therapy.
If you do not see your question listed here, please reach out.
1 / What should I anticipate during a consultation?
The consultation is typically 15 minutes, either over the phone or on a virtual platform. It will be a quick getting-to-know-you session to see if we're a great fit. I'll ask about you, and feel free to ask me anything too. There is no pressure to schedule now or later – it's all up to you! We can also use this time to chat about scheduling your first session.
2 / What can I expect during a therapy session?
Therapy sessions are like having a supportive chat with a friend who's also an expert in helping you feel better. Our first couple of therapy sessions will be spent getting to know you more and determining what you would like to focus on in sessions. We'll meet regularly and have open conversations about what's on your mind. You can share your thoughts, feelings, or anything bothering you. I'm here to listen, provide helpful insights, and offer tools to make things easier. Together, we'll work on making positive changes and finding ways to handle challenges. Remember, it's a safe space where you can be yourself and take steps toward feeling your best!
3 / How often and long does therapy last?
The frequency and length of therapy sessions can vary based on what works best for you. Typically, sessions happen once a week and last around 50 minutes. However, we can adjust this to fit your schedule and needs. In the beginning, we might meet more frequently to build momentum, and as you progress, we can space sessions out a bit. It's all about finding the right balance that best supports you.
4 / How much does therapy cost and do you accept insurance?
My therapy rate is $150 per session. I also accept United Healthcare, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Carelon, UMR, Cigna, Quest, Alliance, and Aetna insurances. If I do not accept your insurance, I'm more than happy to assist you in submitting claims for out-of-network insurance reimbursement. Many insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits that may cover a portion of therapy costs. I can provide you with a detailed invoice and any necessary documentation to help you with the reimbursement process. Additionally, I understand that financial situations vary, and I offer sliding scale fees when appropriate. If you have questions about how this works or if you'd like to discuss the sliding scale option, feel free to ask. My priority is to ensure you receive the support you need in a way that works best for you.
